Location
Morwell is located in the centre of the Latrobe City, the key industrial and commercial area of Gippsland in Eastern Victoria. The Latrobe City is unique, in that there are three large urban centres, and one of moderate size. Approximately a third of the Cities' population of 75,000 people, live in Morwell and surrounding districts, including Churchill, Yinnar and Boolarra. There are about 850 businesses in the Morwell district.

Morwell, as the centre of the Latrobe City, has a range of industries, businesses and services situated in the best location for servicing the Latrobe Region. Morwell is located on the M1 Princess Freeway, just over one and a half hours drive from Melbourne, and has its own airport. These factors, together with the Region's rail freight facilities, mean that Morwell is the ideal location for decentralised industry or commercial activities.

Shopping and Leisure
Morwell is well serviced by retail businesses in central Morwell, Mid Valley and Churchill, in addition to smaller local shopping areas. It is a regional shopping and leisure destination, with an excellent swimming and leisure centre, and high level football, cricket and soccer facilities.

Mid Valley Shopping Centre boasts over 80 retail outlets including Safeway an Bi-Lo supermarkets, Target and BigW department stors along with an adjacent Bunnings Hardware store. An eight theatre cinema complex, as part of the Mid Valley complex, has built on the image of Morwell as a leisure and sport destination.

Morwell is the centre for learning and education in the region, in close proximity to world class Monash University's Gippsland Campus and with a leading Institute of TAFE. These institutions have extensive links into South-east Asia, as do many of Morwell's leading companies.
