MORWELL PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL
Morwell Park Primary School, in central Latrobe
Valley, 150km east of Melbourne, services a changing residential area. Latrobe Valley,
traditionally the major power provider in the state has undergone dramatic change in
recent years. A downturn in the economy and restructuring of the State Electricity
Commission have resulted in the loss of significant employment opportunities and this has
affected Morwell Park's enrolment numbers. The current figure of 260 (1998) is
significantly down from the previous years, due mainly to people leaving the area to seek
employment. Slightly lower enrolment levels are anticipated in the immediate future.
Morwell Park Primary School has excellent grounds

area. It also has access to an adjoining oval and netball facility.
