Nearby are the picturesque hills of the green Strzelecki Ranges which beckon visitors to the Morwell National Park, where you can listen to the sounds of the mystic lyrebird, stroll through cool tree fern shaded glens and see the bright sparkle of fresh mountain streams as they trickle through the lush and green forests.

Sporting Facilities
Our sporting facilities are excellent, catering for every need, ranging from a golf course, a golf driving range, tennis courts, bowling greens, tenpin bowling, go-karting, swimming, gym facilities, squash and many other popular sporting activities.

Entertainment and Leisure
When it comes to general entertainment and leisure facilities, Morwell is able to cater to every taste from a modern eight screen cinema complex located at the Mid-Valley Shopping Centre, to a multi-purpose leisure complex including gymnasium, swimming and a number of other sporting facilities.

There are annual street fiestas and a range of cultural and social clubs, many with gaming facilities, which always welcome visitors.

Parks and Gardens
Morwell’s parks and gardens are a delight at all times, especially in the spring and through summer, when a visit to the Centenary Rose Garden is a must. The Morwell Civic Gardens (pictured) offer visitors a chance to relax beside the ornamental lake and admire the bi-centennial fountain. Here in Morwell you know that you are in a town, offering all the benefits of modern urban living, set within rich rural surroundings.

PowerWorks Industrial Experiences
We are proud of our local industry and a visit to the Powerworks Museum and Exhibition Centre is essential to catch a glimpse of the region’s industrial base, in an area that has one of the world’s largest single deposits of brown coal and where eighty-five per cent of Victoria’s energy is generated. Group tours can also be arranged with Paper Linx’s Maryvale Mill, the largest pulp mill in the Southern hemisphere.

Or you can arrange a visit to the Carter, Holt and Harvey Ltd, one of the largest sawmilling complexes in Australia. For people, who like the fragrance and culture of roses, a visit to the hydroponic Hazelwood Rose Farm, on the banks of the warm Hazelwood Cooling Pondage, would be a delight in itself. Also nearby is the National Foods victorian processing plant.

Arts and Crafts
Morwell is also centre of one of the most active and diverse arts and crafts communities in Australia. Morwell is the home of the recently renovated Latrobe Regional Gallery and in the nearby village setting of Yinnar is the Arts Resource Collective.

Education and Learning
Morwell is home to Central Gippsland Institute of TAFE, the Hazelwood Power Childrens' Traffic School and situated nearby in the ideal surroundings of the modern University Township of Churchill is Monash University’s Gippsland Campus.

Just a Short Drive Away
In addition to the attractions already mentioned, which are literally on Morwell’s doorstep, only a short drive away you will find the historic mining village of Walhalla, the unique Tarra Bulga National Park, numerous beaches and several snow resorts.
